Beautification Commission Meeting
Thursday July 3, 2014

Tess Milkove, Assistant Director of Public Works

Ted Fravel, Director/Parks and Recreation (excused).
Call to order:
Chair Sirois called the meeting of the Beautification Commission to order at 5:30 p.m.
Chair Sirois introduced Tess Milkove, Assistant Director of Public Works.
Acceptance of minutes of June 5, 2014
Mary Mourey made a motion to accept the minutes of the June 5, 2014 meeting.
Seconded by Betty Russell. Approved.

DIRECTOR’S REPORTS
No report at this time.
Tess Milkove reported on the following:
She will be taking the Tree Warden training so she can become a Deputy Tree Warden.
She reported on the following:
2 trees on Central Avenue side of the Raymond Library will be removed.
A Sycamore Tree will be removed at the Public Safety Complex.
A Maple Tree will be removed from the south lawn at the Community Cultural Center.
Letters have been issued to residents at the following addresses requesting removal or trimming of trees:
- 278 Goodwin Street
- 896 Burnside Avenue
- 143 Oak Street
- 73 Sunnyreach Drive
- 373 Main Street
- Concerns of the Commission (Building/Inspections)
52 Stanley Street
Oxford Drive
Goodwin Street
Larrabee Street – scaffolding
Main Street building that had a fire, demolishing date
60 Naubuc Avenue – forklift parked in driveway
Financial Report:
Mary Mourey reported the following:
- $2941 was encumbered from the 2013-14 budget to Botticello Farms and Woodland Gardens.
- All invoices were paid
- $520.96 - Remembrance Fund (being used on Pitkin Street)
Communications:
Chair Sirois received the following communication:
- Voices LLC in reference to Holiday Fest
- Faith Lutheran will host the Bell Ringers during Holiday Fest
Chair's report
Chair Sirois will be contacting the President of the Chamber of Commerce in reference to Holiday Fest. She will be sending out an email to past Holiday Fest participants.
Chair Sirois informed the Commissioners she will be on vacation for the August 7, 2014 meeting. Vice Chair Mary Mourey will preside at the meeting.

Consensus that the barrels looked lovely in town.

Beautification Awards – Residential
Chair Sirois sent out letters to Goodwin College (Community Pride Award) as well as the homeowners of 179 Harvest Lane and 180 Harvest Lane. They will be receiving the award at the July 15th Town Council meeting.

To give the Residential Beautification Award for July to the homeowners of
23 Andover Road.
Approved.
Beautification Award – Business
Farmington Bank, Main Street will receive the July Business Beautification Award per Motion at June 5, 2014 meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS None at this time.
Payment of Bills:
Theresa Godreau $ 75.00
Pat Byrnes made a motion to pay the bills as submitted. Seconded by Betty Russell. Approved.
Adjournment:
There being no further business, Mary Mourey made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:05 p.m. Seconded by Dolores Kehoe. Approved.
The next meeting of the Commission will be on August 7, 2014 in Building Department Conference Room at 5:30 p.m.
